This was our way of drawing your attention to plants in which Proven Winners® will be concentrating extra consumer advertising efforts towards for the upcoming season. This is important information to you as a growers as the demand for these plants will increase due to these efforts and you will want to ensure you have plenty of them on our retail benches. Doing this makes if very easy for you to plan your production to meet consumer's needs. Often times, efforts may change and additional promotions may occur.
Superbells® Calibrachoa (Page 68-71) Top-Selling series. Bred for thielaviopsis resistance. Superior summer performance with semi-upright habit. Offers five trailing plants also. Dolce® Heuchera (Page 90) Bred for greenhouse production, Dolce® plants finish in five to six weeks and are cold hardy and very vigorous. They are spectacularly beautiful, with foliage colors that intensify in cool weather. This is among the most talked and written about series in years. Broadway Lights™ Leaucanthemum (Page 97) The flowers on this gorgeous and exciting Shasta Daisy open bright yellow, lighten to a soft butter shade, then turn white when mature. Opal Innocence® Nemesia (Page 100) Opal Innocence® is very fragrant, comparable to Comact Innocence®. Favored at the California Spring Exhibition and our Four Star May 2006 open house. Matches Compact Innocence® for habit and flower size. Flowers in pink, purple and blue transitioning hues comparable to the colors of an opal. Heat tolerant - a Best Seller for 2007. Zone: 9 Garden Height 8-10"
Supertunia® Petunia hybrid (Page 112-116) Five Supertunia® Day Length Neutral plants provide earlier flowering for early spring sales. All are self branching and very self cleaning. Best sellers from this selection include Royal Velvet & White Zone: 10 Garden Height: 6-12"
We point these following five plants out as not being Day Length Neutral, meaning that they rely more on the longer days for better branching and flowering. Plan these top-selling plants for mid spring season for best performance. Supertunia® Double with their semi-double to double habit promotes self-cleaning unlike most double petunias on the market. Attractive colors add wonderfully to combinations. Supertunia® Mini's have a well branching habit with early flowering. Ideal for both basket and pot production. These great performing plants offer a smaller yet profuse blooming habit along with a long trailing habit. Supertunia® Vista series...last on the list but certainly not least. These two plants are an absolute breakthough in breeding. Both are the absolute best for landscape applications offering a vigorous, spreading, and taller habit. Still great for a quick finish 4.50 container, 1.0 GL container and hanging baskets or upright combinations. Early to flower but not quite day length neutral. Intensia® Phlox (Page 118) Unique genetics to the industry. Vigorous spreading, free flowering habit. Extremely heat tolerant yet can take very cold temperatures. Three liners in a 10" basket will create a 24" wide ball of color in approximately 11 weeks. Outstanding flowering plant for the landscape. Most perennial phlox can be very sensitive to powdery mildew, we have seen minimal mildew sesitivity on the seven top performing plants. Best selling plants in this series include both Cabernet and Lavender Glow. I anticipate that Star Brite will also quickly climb to the top.
