Trial Coordinator

JOB SUMMARY:   

• Responsible for the care of all plants in trial. 
• Organizes Trials at all levels from incoming shipments to finished product. 
• Grows samples of new varieties for marketing purposes.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 3+ years greenhouse growing experience or a Horticulture Degree
• High level of organizational skills
• Basic computer skills
• Ability to lead & direct people
• Knowledge of Spanish is preferred

Section Grower Level II

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Two years prior experience as a Section Grower or a similar position at another greenhouse and/or a horticultural degree.
• Possesses and maintains Michigan pesticide applicator certification.
• Must present one professional letter of reference from previous employer.

Main duties include independently growing greenhouse crops. Candidates must demonstrate a great attitude, attention to detail, good organizational skills, and a willingness to learn our systems.  The ideal candidate must be very reliable and able to work quickly and efficiently in a fast paced environment while maintaining professional composure under pressure. Section Grower - Internship

Four Star Greenhouse recognizes the importance of internships when starting a career. We provide exciting and diverse opportunities within our Growing department for enthusiastic horticulture students. Paid positions are available in the fall, winter and spring/summer with specific dates flexible enough to fit your schedule. Housing is available.

Internship focus is on gaining practical experience growing pre-finished and finished ornamental crops.

Other valuable experience includes:

-Special project/experiment developed with your area of interest in mind.

-Automated and manual irrigation techniques.

-Test and manage pH & EC levels in a variety of crops.

-Propagate vegetative as well as seed crops.

-Pesticide applications.

-Interview with all Managers to gain a big picture understanding of our operation.

-Summer interns have an opportunity to be the Project Manager for a large shipping project.

-Summer interns will attend OFA’s annual Short Course in Columbus, OH.
