A Four Star Greenhouse Exclusive
SUPERN0VA® LINER CULTURE GUIDE
PLEASE PROVIDE THIS INFORMATION TO YOUR HEAD GROWER
Congratulations on choosing SuperNova® Liners
Please read these guidelines to assist you in growing.
- SuperNova® Liners have been treated in such a way to provide the grower with a blooming, saleable plant in a 4-6” container in 4-6 weeks. They are not recommended for Hanging Baskets.
- Treatments given to SuperNova® Liners to control vigor are temporary and will lose effectiveness in 3-6 weeks depending on growing conditions.
- As a general guideline, follow the culture guide below and Growth Regulator Chart on the back of this page for helpful growing tips on growing SuperNova® Liners.
The SuperNova®™ liners will grow and perform the best at an average temperature of 65-68 degrees. Colder temperatures are possible but will delay ready dates. Angelonia do not flower well below 72 degrees Fahrenheit.
Placement in the brightest greenhouse location available is recommended. Low light and warm temperatures will produce a soft plant that grows together rapidly, produces fewer blooms, and may require more growth regulator treatments.
Finished containers from SuperNova® liners should be kept moist, but not saturated. Slight drying is possible once the container reaches saleable size.
A soil pH of 5.8 – 6.2 and EC reading, from a 2:1 ratio test, of .5-.8 should be maintained. For Calibrachoa, maintain a lower pH of 5.5-5.8.
Note: As is true with all Proven Winners®, soil
pH and EC levels must be properly maintained.
NONE required or recommended. This would remove the initiated flowers.
As with pinching, it is not recommended on most varieties as initiated flowers would be aborted, however Nemesia flower very readily and often benefit from 1 application 4-6 days after planting.
Certain varieties within a genera may require different growth regulator treatments depending on plant size and vigor. Under conditions at Four Star Greenhouse Inc.,** we use the following chart as a guideline for GR applications. These rates are based on ½ gallon of solution per 100 square feet. Do not apply under bright, sunny conditions as this can cause leaf burn.
5-10 ppm Sumagic®
Up to 2 applications. The first application 10-14 days after planting. The second application only if necessary.
Argyranthemum, Cobbitty® Daisy Summer Melody, Superbells™, Supertunia®, Surfinia®, Temari™, Tukana®, Superbena™, Babylon® |
5-10 ppm Sumagic®
1 application 10-14 days after planting.
Tapien®, Nemesia Safari™ Pink |
5 ppm Sumagic®
Possibly 1 application 14-21 days after planting.
Scaevola, Angelface Angelonia, Argyranthemum Sugar Baby®, Flying Colors Diascia, Cherry Red and Red Superbells |
Infinity™ New Guinea Impatiens |
SuperNova® New Guinea need 70-80% relative humidity. Maintain Average Daily Temperature of 68F. Fertilize only as needed. |
** These are Four Star Greenhouse Inc. recommendations when grown indoors, under glass, in Michigan with greenhouse temperatures between 65 and 68 F. Time of year, southern location, warmer temperatures or lower light levels could require more growth regulators. Cooler temperatures may require little to none. This information is provided as recommendations only, please adjust as necessary based on your geographic location and growing environment.
