Senior Production Supervisor

Four Star Greenhouse has 30 acres of state-of-the-art greenhouses to produce our high-quality plants for a nationwide customer base. Our production is modeled after a manufacturing facility and includes a Quality Assurance department. Our Production & Quality Assurance teams stick unrooted cuttings, trim, plant, and patch our products on assembly lines. The Production team also hangs baskets & moves plants so that they are always located in the optimal growing environment. All production and quality assurance team members are thoroughly trained and have jobs with minimum standards. All jobs are tracked for productivity and many jobs offer piece rate bonuses. Some tasks are automated with robotic technology while most jobs are completed manually by an experienced team.
 
Our Senior Production Supervisor will lead a diverse team to produce high quality crops in a positive work environment. Skills required for this senior level position include using a positive leadership style and strong employee engagement principles to inspire and motivate everyone to produce high quality work. Key aspects of this position include:

• Training team members,
• Monitoring production numbers,
• Improving morale,
• Ensuring that the work produced meets our high-quality standards,
• Identifying and implementing ways to improve quality,
• Finding ways to decrease costs without impacting quality or morale.

Building effective collaborative relationships with key leaders within the department, as well as throughout the company, is fundamental to success.

Customer Relationship Representative

One of Carleton, Michigan’s best-kept secrets, Four Star Greenhouse Inc. is the co-founder and largest provider of Proven Winners® plants in the U.S. Over the past 7 years, we’ve built an eCommerce department, doing business online as Proven Winners Direct, and business is growing… that’s where you come in. 

A Proven Winners Direct Customer Relationship Representative is one of the most important roles in our department’s success. They are the voice of our brand and represent the entire company through communications with customers over the phone and via email.  

As Customer Relationship Representative, a typical day might include any of the following:  

• Help customers pick out plants for their gardens over the phone  
• Order replacement plants for customers that have an issue with their shipment  
• Respond to customer reviews to sustain trust in our brand  
• Answer general customer questions on our product pages  
• Experience with the #1 software for CRM and Statistical data reporting: Salesforce.

Marketing Specialist (Digital)

Four Star Greenhouse produces and ships the number one plant brand, Proven Winners, to wholesale customers all over the country including your hometown greenhouses and Independent Garden Centers. We grow a variety of annuals, perennials, house plants and more! The Marketing team plays a critical role in sharing the benefits and value of choosing Proven Winners products.

The Marketing Department is looking for a Digital Marketing Specialist to focus on business-to-business communication and to partner with our Sales Department to enhance our company vision and meet goals.

Priorities will be to build, maintain and continually update multiple company websites via WordPress and focus on user-friendly website layouts, graphics, and interfaces that adhere to our brand style guidelines. You will create, pursue, and execute a schedule to meet all deadlines, keep up to date with drafted content and to be on top of all assignments. You will also create content for our websites, gather and utilize photography and enhance our email marketing efforts to maintain engagement and meet promotional goals.

Human Resources Generalist

We are seeking a Human Resources Generalist with outstanding analytical, organizational and communication skills to enhance our department and keep pace with future growth. Logistics Coordinator

Four Star Greenhouse is the largest supplier of Proven Winners young plants in the country. Our Logistics department plays a crucial role in successfully getting our products to the right place at the right time. 

We are looking to enhance our team by hiring a Logistics Coordinator to get our high-quality products to our customers as expected. This position is full-time, providing support to our team and customers year-round. Hourly wage starts at $21.00 for the entry level candidate along with a very competitive benefits package. Starting pay may increase based on relevant skills and experience.

The Logistics Coordinator’s primary role is to create efficient and cost-effective loads using routing software programs, while meeting customer service standards.  Additional departmental responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing delivery updates, maintaining accurate records, and resolving customer concerns.

Signature Garden Crew

The Four Star Signature Display Garden is a 1.5-acre garden in Carleton, MI dedicated to displaying the garden performance of the #1 plant brand in the US, Proven Winners.  Our garden is a living catalog of our plants, created to show any visitor how to be successful in their gardens at home.   

As a member of our seasonal full time on-site garden crew, you’ll help install our yearly display of annual flowers, learn how to grow and maintain a huge variety of different plants, and perform daily maintenance to help our gardens thrive.  As a member of the Proven Winners brand, you’ll be asked to greet and assist visitors to the garden, assist our marketing department in preparing for photoshoots and events, and help promote Proven Winners plants.  This is a great chance to work in a beautiful outdoor setting with a fun group of gardeners, learn professional gardening/growing/landscaping techniques from experienced industry professionals, and connect with passionate plant people from all over the country!

Our ideal candidate is a hard worker, a quick learner, and enthusiastic about gardening and the outdoors.  Candidates must have excellent customer service skills and be able to work independently or with a group.  This job often involves long but rewarding days of outdoor physical labor, so candidates must also be comfortable working in all kinds of weather.  Prior experience in horticulture/landscaping is extremely helpful but not a requirement! Come join our garden crew for the summer!

This is a seasonal position that starts around May and goes through August. We may be able to accommodate the time frame around your school schedule.

Maintenance Assistant

Do you enjoy troubleshooting, problem solving and using your hands? Do you find fulfillment in fixing equipment and overcoming challenges? If this sounds like you then we would love to hear from you, because Four Star is currently looking to hire an entry-level Maintenance Assistant.

Our business is modeled after an assembly line manufacturing facility, but the difference between our company and others is that we produce beautiful living plants. We have 30 acres of greenhouses, over 4 acres of outdoor growing area, 4 warehouse/service buildings and a couple office buildings too. In our facility we have lots of technology and automation including soil mixing equipment, shipping and sorting lines, sticking robots, booms, and other irrigation machines, which are maintained by our maintenance department.  

The Maintenance Assistant will be a key member of a small team that is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and building greenhouse structures and equipment. The goal is to keep our facilities operating safely and efficiently. They will be asked to complete various tasks and work under the mentorship of our current maintenance technicians, inside our greenhouse facilities. Our Maintenance Assistant will help respond to maintenance requests through our ticketing system and complete all required documentation to close these cases. A successful Maintenance Assistant at Four Star Greenhouse will gain the necessary knowledge, skills, and experience for potential career growth.

Section Grower Team Leader

At Four Star Greenhouse, we recognize that our employees and leaders are our most valued resource. We are looking for an approachable leader who is passionate about helping others grow. A Team Leader at Four Star Greenhouse provides inspirational leadership for daily and specialized assignments like pesticide applications, crop care techniques or advice on insect and disease identification.

They will strive to engage a team of growers to create and foster, a respectful and safe working environment. This position will mentor, oversee, and guide our Section Growers on a day-to-day basis using positive leadership techniques, to ensure they are receiving training and have the expertise needed to produce our crops to meet our quality specifications. A Team Leader will also play a large role in supporting our Growers by creating SMART goals to achieve and by providing positive feedback and continuous encouragement.

The Team leader will act as a liaison between the Product Line Managers and other departments, to ensure messages are accurately communicated and implemented as needed. They will also function as an advocate for all Section Growers regarding equipment repairs or upgrades and help obtain needed supplies.

Section Grower

If you would like to turn your passion for growing into a career, we will train you to grow plants as a Section Grower inside our 25+ acre greenhouse complex. Section Growers are the caretakers for our crops. Once trained, this position is responsible to decide what to water, when to water and how much to water. Applying fertilizers and making other applications are additional functions you would learn. Growing quality crops in time to ship to our nationwide customer base is the end goal.

We offer a competitive wage and benefits package. We prefer to hire full-time year-round but we may also be open to a seasonal full-time schedule working from December through mid-June.

Job summary is to correctly perform the cultural requirements needed for each crop in such a way to produce quality plants, on a consistent basis, with minimal losses, and as efficiently as possible. Maintain the growing area to meet the sanitary and organizational standards of the company.

This position starts at $17.25 per hour for the entry level candidate. Starting pay may increase based on relevant skills, experience and education. We pay a $2/hr shift premium for weekend work. We pay time and a half for all hours worked past 40 hours in a week. We offer the opportunity for a merit increase after 90 days and annually thereafter.

Greenhouse Growing Rotational Internship
